Sometimes all you need is a good primal scream.
Remember the excitement you felt as a kid, experiencing the thrills and chills of a roller coaster ride? Going up and down, feeling the unexpected twists and turns and pent-up emotions until you could no longer hold on…
And then belting out a loud EEEEEKKKKKKK!
Screaming was exhilarating —and part of the overall fun. And it still can be. Screaming is usually child’s play, but why do kids get to have all the fun? Plus, it’s really good for you. And it’s fun because it releases stress and feels like you’re breaking rules.
Sometimes you just need permission.
I was recently given permission (yay!) while on a girls’ weekend with two of my favorite gal pals, Jane and Lisa. Every time we drove over a bridge, we rolled down the car windows — and screamed as long and loud as we could. It felt wild, crazy, cathartic, and super fun.
Part of the fun is releasing the normal pent-up anxiety or frustrations from daily life. So in honor of International Moment of Frustration Scream Day, belt one out today or any day . . .
You are never too old for a good primal scream and to learn something from your lady friends . . .
