Get out of your rut, add variety, and try new things in a fun playful way! It’s easy to get stuck in a rut by going to the same restaurants and doing the same things for entertainment. And when you get bored, you lose the fun factor! Does this sound familiar? “Where do you want to go?” “I don’t care, where do you want to go?” And, so it begins.

So if you want to know how to make yourself feel better, add fun by creating an Entertainment Hat. It’s free to set up!

Choose Categories

First decide on fun categories. For example, here are mine:

B = Breakfast or Brunch

L = Lunch

D = Dinner

DT = Day Trip

Under each category, come up with all the things/places you’ve wanted to try. (For ideas, go to TripAdvisor, Yelp! or the entertainment section of your local newspaper.) You can further categorize the categories by putting in “very nice” or “casual,” so that when you pick an activity, your choice is actually what you’re in the mood to do. (And be sure to regularly revisit your activities to add new ideas.)

Pregame Setup: Make the Fun!

Write down various place/activities/restaurants on individual pieces of paper, fold them, and label on the outside the appropriate category. Now put them in a cute, fun hat!

Pick your fun . . .

The next time you and your hubby, girlfriend, or out-of-town guests can’t figure out what to do or where to go, play the HAT game. Pull out the HAT, load it with the slips of paper (making sure they are the right category), and randomly select one of the pieces of paper.

THEN get out and go do THAT thing!

No excuses, just go and have a new fun experience! You may discover your favorite new place. It’s important to realize that YOUR attitude is the key to the HAT game’s success. Your sense of adventure, your sense of fun…it’s gonna be a winner, for everyone involved!

You are never too old to get out of a rut and have fun  . . .
